Supreme Court ruling forces Missouri to use 2022 congressional map
Missouri congressional map blocked as Supreme Court restores 2022 districts for November New district lines could shift 1M voters and reshape a key House race
The Supreme Court has blocked Missouri from using a new congressional map that had been backed by Republicans and President Donald Trump, forcing the state to revert to its 2022 district boundaries for the November election.
The decision affects how voters are assigned ahead of the general election after Missouri already held its August primary under the nowblocked map. Some voters may end up in a different district in November than the one they used in the primary, creating added confusion for candidates and election officials.
The change could affect more than 1 million voters, according to an Associated Press estimate. Republicans had hoped the new map would help them win an additional House seat, but the 2022 map keeps Democratic Rep. Emanuel Cleaver’s Kansas City district more favorable to Democrats.
