OpenAI adds always-on agents to ChatGPT

OpenAI's Dot agent brings 24/7 AI help across 4,000+ apps and chats See how it fits Pro and Business Premium plans, plus what rivals mean

OpenAI unveiled a new alwayson agent called Dot at its latest DevDay event, positioning it as a 24/7 assistant that runs through a cloud computer and connects with more than 4,000 apps. The launch comes as rivals such as xAI and Meta expand similar agent products. According to the report, Dot can respond in ChatGPT, Slack, and Teams, and its conversations do not count against ChatGPT usage limits. OpenAI said the first Dot is included with Pro and Business Premium plans, with broader access planned later. The newsletter also highlighted other OpenAI announcements, including a new Decisions API, shared team workspaces, and a lowercost model called GPT6.1 Sol. In a separate section, it noted Anthropic's leaked IPO filing and a new U.S. government chatbot front door, but the main focus was OpenAI's push into alwayson AI agents.
