Montreal road closures and transit changes expected during cycling world championships

UCI Road World Championships traffic disrupts Montreal streets and highways See affected neighborhoods, closures and transit detours to plan ahead

The UCI Road World Championships will bring major traffic disruptions to Montreal starting Saturday, with races and training sessions affecting several neighborhoods through Sept. 27. Officials say most of the impact will be felt in areas such as Westmount, CôtedesNeiges–NotreDamedeGrâce, PlateauMontRoyal, SudOuest, Mercier–HochelagaMaisonneuve, Outremont, Verdun and VilleMarie. Streets near the main course, including CôteSainteCatherine Road, DocteurPenfield Avenue, RenéLévesque Boulevard and Sherbrooke Street, will face restrictions, along with parts of Old Montreal, the Old Port and Parc JeanDrapeau. The city has posted an interactive map of vehicle access limits, and drivers are being advised to check navigation apps like Waze or Google Maps for live updates. Highway 15 exits 58 and 60 will close on parts of Sept. 19 to 22, while the Bonaventure Expressway will be closed to traffic heading downtown from Nuns' Island. Transit users should also expect STM bus detours, possible Metro crowding and delays, and a special event transit pass is being offered for the duration of the championships.
