Mallory McMorrow exits Michigan Senate race before primary
Michigan Senate race narrows after Mallory McMorrow exits the primary See how Stevens and El-Sayed now shape the fight for Gary Peters' seat
Michigan state Sen. Mallory McMorrow has suspended her campaign for the U.S. Senate in Michigan just weeks before the Aug. 4 Democratic primary.
Her exit narrows the race to Rep. Haley Stevens and former Wayne County Health Department Director Abdul ElSayed. McMorrow said her name will remain on the ballot because primary ballots have already been printed and sent to absentee voters.
The winner of the Democratic primary will face former Rep. Mike Rogers in the general election for the seat being vacated by Sen. Gary Peters. McMorrow said she will support whichever Democrat secures the nomination.
