The Vancouver Canucks have acquired forward Brendan Gallagher from the Montreal Canadiens for future considerations, the team announced Monday.
Montreal is keeping 50% of the remaining year on Gallagher's contract, which carries a US$6.5 million salarycap hit. The 34yearold from Tsawwassen, B.C., spent all 14 seasons of his NHL career with the Canadiens, finishing with 246 goals and 487 points in 911 games.
Gallagher had already said he would not return to Montreal next season and was named an honorary citizen of the city last week. The Canucks also moved winger Nils Höglander to the Nashville Predators for a thirdround pick in the 2029 NHL Draft.
