Montreal adds more funding to repair potholes
Montreal potholes get a repair boost as the city adds funding for faster fixes See how new money will speed borough repairs and manual patching this season
Montreal Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada says the city will put more money toward fixing potholes as road damage continues to draw complaints from residents.
The city is adding $1 million for boroughs that have already used their repair budgets or received the most 311 complaints, along with $125,000 for manual repairs on NotreDame Street. Another $1 million will go to manual patching contracts that can be awarded quickly when weather allows.
Martinez Ferrada said the expanded effort is meant to speed up repairs across the city, which has been dealing with longstanding maintenance problems. The city says it has filled as many as 12,000 potholes a week in recent weeks and could soon surpass its total from last year.
