Trump administration sends direct message to Iranians amid nuclear talks
Iran video message from State Department highlights freedom and self-determination See how U.S. outreach targets Iranians as nuclear talks and unrest continue
The Trump administration is using a Persianlanguage State Department video to address the Iranian public directly while nuclear negotiations with Tehran continue. The message, first reported by Fox News on June 4, says Iran’s leadership, not its people, is responsible for blocking opportunity and openness.
According to the report, the video will air through Iran International and BBC Persian. It highlights themes such as freedom, selfdetermination, and economic opportunity, and says the future of Iran should be shaped by its people rather than by intimidation.
The outreach comes during a period of restored but still limited internet access in Iran after an 88day blackout and after months of unrest and government crackdowns. U.S. officials have also said any possible agreement with Tehran would require major Iranian concessions, including on nuclear issues, sanctions, and regional security concerns.
