Heat warning issued for the Greater Toronto Area as temperatures rise this week

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the Greater Toronto Area, with hot conditions expected to begin Monday and last through Thursday. Temperatures could reach 37 C, while humidex values may make it feel as high as 45 C. The agency says Tuesday is likely to be the hottest day of the week. The warning comes as heat alerts are also in effect across much of Ontario, including a severe warning for parts of northern Ontario. Environment Canada is advising people to watch for signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, and to take precautions such as drinking water, using air conditioning if possible, closing blinds and limiting time in the sun. The agency also noted that hot and humid weather can worsen air quality.
