Basis, a startup that builds AI agents for accounting work, says GPT6 Astra helped it complete a complex 50tab tax workbook about 50% faster than GPT5.6 Sol in internal testing.
According to the company, the newer model also improved its internal evaluation scores by roughly 20%, mainly by better understanding user intent, deciding when to ask clarifying questions, and following instructions more reliably.
Basis said GPT6 Astra adjusts its reasoning effort depending on the task, which can reduce response time and cost on longrunning workflows. The company says this makes its agents more efficient for accountants and more capable in realworld use.
