A 50yearold pedestrian died Sunday night after being struck by a car near Saputo Stadium in east Montreal, police said. The collision happened shortly after 10 p.m. on Sherbrooke Street near Viau Street, at a location police said was not a designated pedestrian crossing. The driver was heading east when the vehicle hit the man. Montreal police said officers gave first aid at the scene before paramedics arrived and confirmed the man had died. A collision reconstruction specialist attended the area, and investigators are reviewing surveillance video and speaking with witnesses. Police said there is currently no indication of a criminal offence or traffic infraction.
