Canucks acquire Brendan Gallagher from Canadiens
Brendan Gallagher trade brings the Canucks veteran grit and scoring depth See how Montreal's 50% retention and future considerations shape the deal
The Vancouver Canucks have acquired forward Brendan Gallagher from the Montreal Canadiens in a trade for future considerations, the NHL teams announced Monday.
Montreal is retaining 50% of the remaining year on Gallagher’s contract. The 34yearold spent his entire 14year NHL career with the Canadiens, where he played 911 games and scored 246 goals and 487 points.
The Canadiens said Gallagher, who was born in Edmonton and grew up in Tsawwassen, B.C., will be remembered as a determined and passionate player. He was recently named an honorary citizen of Montreal after saying he would not return to the team next season.
