Binance Moves Crypto Balances Ahead of Funding Account Rename

Binance Funding to Spot migration shifts crypto balances as Binance restructures accounts. See how the staged update affects balances, services, and what users may need to change.

Binance has started shifting nonstock crypto holdings out of Funding Accounts and into Spot Accounts as it reorganizes how user balances are stored. The migration began on September 29 and is expected to roll out in stages through January 2027. Binance said the change does not affect the total value of users’ assets and is part of an internal restructuring rather than a sale or liquidation. The exchange plans to rename Funding Accounts as Stocks Accounts in January 2027. Those accounts will be used mainly for stock and stockoption settlement, along with a limited list of supported settlement assets. At the same time, ordinary crypto assets such as bitcoin and ether will be held in Spot Accounts instead. Binance is also updating related services, including Binance Card, gift cards, Binance Pay, and Convert, to match the new account setup. The company said users may need to adjust some settings during the transition, while historical transaction labels will remain unchanged.
