U.S. Consulate in Toronto struck by gunfire again
U.S. Consulate shooting in Toronto sparks police investigation and road closures No injuries reported—see how investigators are tracking the suspects and motive
Toronto police say the U.S. Consulate on University Avenue was hit by gunfire early Monday morning, marking the second shooting at the building this year.
Officers nearby heard shots around 4:45 a.m. and saw a white Honda Accord with no licence plates leave the area. Police briefly chased the vehicle but stopped on the Don Valley Parkway after it reached speeds above 140 km/h. Investigators said they do not yet know how many people were inside or what the motive was.
No injuries were reported, but police said the building’s facade was damaged and a shell casing was found nearby. Parts of University Avenue were closed as investigators worked at the scene, and the RCMP is assisting with the case along with international partners.
