Two Ajax businesses were targeted in breakins last month in which thieves stole highvalue trading cards and other merchandise, according to Durham Regional Police. Investigators say five suspects are wanted in connection with the thefts, which took place at Mintink Trading Cards and Live Experience and We Got Gamez.
Police say the suspects fled in white Honda Civics after taking items worth more than $100,000. No injuries were reported, but both store owners said the losses were significant and that they have since increased security.
The owners said the thefts reflect the rising value of collectible trading cards, which have become a frequent target for organized retail crime. Police are asking anyone with information or video footage to come forward.
