Quebec City police investigate death of 21-year-old man as homicide

Quebec City police are treating the death of a 21yearold man found in a home on Friday as a homicide. Police identified the victim as GabrielSimon Akokane and said he had a criminal record. Officers discovered him around 11 a.m. during a search at a residence in the SaintJeanBaptiste neighbourhood. Investigators said the search was connected to a case handled by the force’s urban violence unit. Police spokesperson Sandra Dion said Akokane had injuries on his body, but she did not share more details because the investigation is ongoing. A mobile command post has been set up at the scene.
