Environment Canada is warning of strong winds, heavy rain and possible thunderstorms in Toronto as the city prepares for its second FIFA World Cup 2026 match.
The forecast calls for up to 40 millimetres of rain and wind gusts that could reach 60 km/h. CBC meteorologist Colette Kennedy said the match between Ghana and Panama should begin in relatively calm conditions, but rain is more likely to increase later in the game and make travel harder for fans leaving Toronto Stadium.
The heaviest rainfall is expected overnight. The warning also covers much of the Greater Toronto Area, and officials said additional updates could follow as the weather system becomes clearer.
