JPMorgan says AI-themed ETFs saw sharp growth despite a weak quarter

AI ETFs gain assets as JPMorgan ranks them among top themes by size See how AI, energy, and ETF flows are reshaping investor demand

JPMorgan Asset Management says exchangetraded funds tied to artificial intelligence have grown quickly, even though the category faced volatility in the second quarter. The firm’s latest ETF guide ranks AIrelated themes among the top five by assets under management. Jon Maier, JPMorgan’s chief ETF strategist, said many investment themes are increasingly linked to AI and the broader ecosystem around it, including applications, energy, and model development. He also noted that AIfocused ETFs overlap with infrastructure plays. The report also points to a broader shift from mutual funds toward ETFs. JPMorgan said mutual fund inflows have slowed in recent years, while ETF flows have continued to rise, helped in part by tax advantages that appeal to retail investors.
