MS NOW, CNN and Politico plan lawsuit over White House ban
White House press ban lawsuit tests Trump media access and First Amendment rights MS NOW, CNN and Politico seek restored credentials—see why the case could reshape press freedom
MS NOW, CNN and Politico are preparing to file a lawsuit against President Donald Trump over his decision to bar their journalists from the White House. The outlets say the move blocks their access to the administration and violates constitutional protections for the press.
According to the complaint, reporters from the three organizations were denied entry after Trump announced the ban on Friday and began enforcing it on Saturday. The lawsuit argues that the White House acted without notice, a hearing, or clear standards, and that the decision was made because of disagreement with their reporting.
The media organizations are seeking an order from a federal judge in Washington to restore their press credentials and stop further enforcement of the ban. Trump defended the decision in a Truth Social post, saying the outlets had written false stories about him and warning that other media organizations could also be affected.
