Ex-Montreal priest faces stricter release conditions after new allegations
Montreal priest release revoked after new child abuse material allegations Parole Board cites repeat risk; court returns Nov. 23 with strict conditions
A former Montreal priest has had his statutory release revoked after the Parole Board of Canada said new allegations and charges suggested a return to past offending behavior.
Brian Boucher, 64, was serving an eightyear sentence for sexually assaulting two boys and had been living at an approved Montreal residence since his release in 2024. The board said it received a tip in April 2026 that he had been seen viewing suspected child sexual abuse material on public transit. He was arrested in April and charged in August with possessing and accessing child sexual abuse material.
The board also cited earlier concerns about Boucher’s conduct, including reports that he was repeatedly near family members of one victim during church attendance and did not fully follow instructions from correctional officials. It said he continued to deny the offences for which he was convicted and had made limited progress despite completing sex offender programs.
Under the new conditions, Boucher must live at an approved residential facility, avoid pornography, limit contact with minors, and allow supervision of his devices and online activity. The case is scheduled to return to court on Nov. 23.
