Montreal Victoire captain MariePhilip Poulin will have knee surgery in late July after playing through a torn ACL and torn meniscus during the team’s championship run, the club announced Thursday. Poulin said the recovery will be difficult but that she remains focused on returning to hockey. The 35yearold from Beauceville, Quebec, was hurt earlier in the year and then aggravated the injury again in March before helping Montreal win the Walter Cup and earning playoff MVP honors. The surgery is expected to sideline her for an undetermined period and may keep her out of the women’s world championship in Denmark this November. Montreal said it will provide updates as her recovery progresses, while also adding players this offseason to help cover her absence.
