Vancouver begins repairs on Georgia Viaduct, warning of delays
Georgia Viaduct repairs bring Vancouver traffic delays and a three-month ramp closure Plan ahead for lane reductions, sidewalk detours, and possible downtown bottlenecks
Drivers leaving downtown Vancouver are being advised to expect delays as the city starts months of repair work on the Georgia Viaduct on Friday.
The biggest impact will be the closure of the vehicle exit ramp from the viaduct to Main Street, which is expected to last about three months. The city is replacing expansion joints on the viaduct deck and ramps as part of a project scheduled to continue until next spring.
Other disruptions will include reduced lanes, possible delays, and occasional shortterm closures on Pacific Boulevard below the viaduct. The Georgia Viaduct sidewalk may also be closed for extended periods, with pedestrians redirected to the Dunsmuir Viaduct sidewalk. The bike lane and traffic lanes on the Dunsmuir Viaduct are expected to remain open.
