Quebec City recorded a sharp rise in deadly road crashes last year, according to a new report discussed on CBC Radio's Quebec AM.
The story says 35 people were killed and more than 2,000 were injured in road accidents in the Quebec City area. That was an 88% increase in fatal collisions compared with the average over the previous five years.
The report was reviewed with SAAQ spokesperson SimonPierre Poulin, as the auto insurance board looks at the factors behind the increase and the broader road safety picture in the region.
