Google Search adds live football feeds and fantasy insights

Google is adding new football features to Search as the U.S. season begins. The update includes a Live Game Feed, expanded player and league stats, and the option to connect a fantasy football account for personalized insights. With the Live Game Feed, users can search for an active game and follow playbyplay updates, highlights, social commentary, and AIgenerated context in real time. The feature is launching on mobile in the U.S. in English for professional football, with collegiate support and broader availability planned later. Search is also gaining tools for tracking matchups, standings, and individual performance. Users can view scores from other league games in a new carousel, see more detailed statistics such as passing touchdowns and rushing yards, and, in future updates, view championship and playoff information. For fantasy football players, Google says Search can connect with Yahoo Fantasy or Sleeper accounts through AI Mode to provide lineup suggestions, waiver targets, draft assessments, and weekly recaps based on a user’s roster and leagues. The fantasy account connection is now available in the U.S. in English.
