Crews are responding to the Mount Jack wildfire on southern Vancouver Island, according to the BC Wildfire Service. The fire is located about four kilometres west of Sooke River and south of Mount Jack. The blaze was discovered late Sunday and has grown to about half a square kilometre in warm, dry conditions. Smoke has been visible as far north as Shawnigan Lake and in Greater Victoria. Officials say firefighters are working to contain the fire, but more growth is expected.
