Google details AI work across science, health, learning, and work

Google AI expands across health, disaster response, education, and access See the new tools, research, and ATLAS tracking real-world AI impact globally

Google says it is expanding AI across several areas it believes can improve people’s lives, including health, disaster response, education, language access, and productivity. In a Sept. 15, 2026 post, the company highlighted new tools and research projects, along with an AI and Economy ATLAS that tracks how people are using AI around the world. On health, Google pointed to AI systems for protein structure research, genetic analysis, cancer screening, tuberculosis detection, and clinical support tools. It also described work with hospitals, universities, and public health partners to test these systems in realworld settings. The company said AI is also helping weather forecasting, flood prediction, wildfire detection, and crisis mapping. In education and work, Google described AI tools for learners, teachers, small businesses, and workers, while noting that the benefits of AI are not guaranteed and that responsible oversight remains important. Google also emphasized language and accessibility projects, including support for nearly 300 languages and new speech and signlanguage tools. The post closes by framing AI as a longterm research effort that should be developed with safety, collaboration, and public benefit in mind.
