Durham Regional Police now say a reported vehicle theft at Oshawa GO station never happened. After initially confirming the car was under investigation as stolen, police later determined the vehicle had not been taken at all.
According to police, the car belonged to Nancy Griffin and had been parked in a prohibited area at the station for several weeks. It was ticketed on March 30, and Griffin later said she learned about the issue after receiving the parking citation and going through a provincial offence process.
Metrolinx said the vehicle remained in the lot for weeks before being removed by its owner on April 27. CBC News said it is correcting its earlier reporting to reflect the final findings from police and Metrolinx.
