NBA Europe bidding process to name winners in coming months

The NBA plans to announce winning bidders for 12 permanent European teams within the next 60 to 90 days, according to Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum. The league is still on track to launch NBA Europe in October 2027.
The teams are expected to be based in major cities including Rome, Milan, London, Manchester, Paris, Lyon, Madrid, Barcelona, Berlin, Munich, Athens and Istanbul. Four rotating spots would also be available each year to FIBAaffiliated clubs based on performance.
Tatum said the league wants partners who can invest in teams and venues, and noted that the NBA is speaking with existing basketball clubs, soccer organizations, and other investors. He also said the league is in discussions with media partners, including global streaming companies, as it looks to distribute games across Europe and beyond.
