President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he will nominate Jay Clayton, the former SEC chairman and current U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, to serve as director of national intelligence.
Trump described Clayton as highly respected in the legal community and said he wants the Senate to confirm him quickly. The announcement comes after William Pulte served in an acting role following Tulsi Gabbard's departure.
Clayton previously led the Securities and Exchange Commission and worked at Sullivan & Cromwell before his current Justice Department post.
