Greater Montreal transit fares to rise on July 1

Greater Montreal transit fares rise July 1, with most passes up about 3%. Check what changes for your zone and avoid surprises on your next commute.

Public transit fares in Greater Montreal will increase on July 1, according to the region’s transit planning agency, ARTM. The change will affect most fares in all zones on and off the island, with single fares and twotrip tickets left unchanged. The agency said the average increase will be about 3 per cent. A regular monthly pass in Zone A on the island of Montreal will rise by $5.50 to $110, while the reducedrate version will increase by $3.25 to $66. Monthly allmode passes will also become more expensive across the different zone combinations. ARTM said the increase reflects the minimum threshold set for the fiscal year under an agreement between the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal and the provincial government. The agency said it is trying to balance affordability with the need to maintain the financial stability of the transit network. One additional change starting July 1 is that South Shore REM users will no longer be able to use transitional tickets introduced in 2023. Instead, riders will need to buy standard allmode fares for travel by REM and buses.
