Ford government to review Metrolinx, LCBO and other agencies

Ontario's Ford government says it will review eight provincial agencies, including Metrolinx, the LCBO, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and Supply Ontario, as it looks for ways to reduce costs and size.
Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy said the review will examine administrative spending, leadershiptostaff ratios and strategic plans, and could lead to staffing cuts or lower public spending. He said the effort is part of a broader push to examine government expenses.
The announcement comes as the Progressive Conservative government faces scrutiny over hotel expense claims by some MPPs. Government officials say the agency review is not tied to the scandal, while Metrolinx CEO Michael Lindsay said the agency has grown quickly in response to new transit responsibilities assigned since 2018.
