Bitget hack probe points to North Korea after $351.6M crypto theft Hot wallets hit, cold storage safe, and funds remain covered as testing continues

Crypto exchange Bitget said it suspects North Korean hackers may be behind a breach that affected about $351.6 million in digital assets, based on early findings from an ongoing investigation. Chief Executive Gracy Chen said investigators found IP addresses linked to VPN services previously used by a North Korean hacking group and that the attack resembled earlier incidents tied to the country. The company said the precise entry point is still being examined. Bitget said it detected unauthorized transfers Thursday afternoon in 19 transactions involving parts of its hot and warm wallet systems, while cold wallets were not affected. The exchange said the breach was contained, withdrawals are temporarily suspended, and deposits and trading are still operating. Bitget also said customer balances remain accurate and the loss is covered by its User Protection Fund.
