Bitwise says institutions held crypto through a 50% drawdown
Institutional crypto holdings stayed intact as Bitwise saw no selling in a 50% drop Bitcoin led portfolios while investors held steady and even added on weakness
Bitwise says none of the 15 institutions it interviewed reduced their crypto holdings during a market decline of about 50%, and some even added to their positions. The group included endowments, foundations, pensions, sovereign wealth funds, family offices, consultants, and public companies.
Bitcoin was the core asset for nearly all of the institutions that owned crypto, and it was usually their largest and longestheld position. Ether and Solana were generally treated as smaller allocations with shorter time horizons and more specific exit conditions.
According to the report, most respondents said falling prices alone would not force them to sell. Instead, they pointed to risks such as a major regulatory reversal, a broad loss of credibility in the sector, or a breakdown in their original investment thesis. Some also said they would reconsider ETH or SOL if network activity did not translate into token value.
