B.C. says it will not challenge Alberta pipeline in court

British Columbia Premier David Eby said the province would not go to court to block a new pipeline if one is built from Alberta to B.C.'s coast.
Eby said the province recognizes that pipelines fall under federal jurisdiction and that B.C. does not have the authority to stop a new project. He said the province will instead meet its constitutional obligations in good faith.
His remarks came after Ottawa and B.C. announced an agreement that keeps the northern tanker ban in place and includes federal support for infrastructure, resource projects and clean energy. Coastal First Nations leaders welcomed the deal and said protecting the north coast remains essential.
