Second Renaud-Bray store in Quebec City closes during strike
Renaud-Bray closes Laurier Québec bookstore after strike and labour dispute Union says 30 workers lost jobs and plans a new complaint over the shutdown
RenaudBray has closed its Laurier Québec bookstore in SainteFoy, according to the CSN union representing workers at the location. The union said employees were informed on Friday afternoon, leaving about 30 people without jobs.
Workers at the store had been on strike since the end of 2024, while managers continued operating the shop. The union says the closure follows months of conflict over wages and contract terms.
Quebec’s labour tribunal previously found the company interfered with union activity during the dispute and ordered RenaudBray and its owner to pay a penalty. The union says it plans to file another complaint over the latest closure.
