Four men wanted in Toronto roofing fraud investigation
Toronto roofing fraud case: police seek four suspects after Rosedale property damage Watch for scam tactics and report tips to help officers identify the men
Toronto police are asking for the public’s help to identify four men wanted in connection with a roofing fraud and mischief case in the Rosedale area.
Police said a man first visited a home near Mount Pleasant Road and Elm Avenue between Aug. 10 and Aug. 17, claiming to be a fraud investigator looking into roofing scams in the neighbourhood. He later returned with another suspect and told the homeowner the repairs would first need to be paid for before any reimbursement was issued. The homeowner refused.
According to police, the original suspect and three others later went to the same property without the owner’s knowledge and damaged the roof and fence between Aug. 20 and Aug. 24. Investigators have released descriptions of the four men and are urging anyone with information to contact police. Officers are also warning residents to be cautious of unsolicited contractors and pressure tactics.
