Quebec approves interior renovation plan for Montreal's Olympic Stadium

The Quebec government has approved an interior renovation for Montreal’s Olympic Stadium, Tourism Minister Amélie Dionne said Friday. The announcement comes while work is already underway to replace the stadium’s roof. The roof project was approved in 2024 at a cost of $870 million, after the government said demolishing the 56,000seat venue would cost about $2 billion. The new interior phase will focus on redesigning the seating so fans are closer to the field, adding premium suites, and upgrading washrooms and concessions. The government did not disclose the cost of the interior work, but said Olympic Park will seek private partners to help pay for the seating and hospitality changes. Both the roof and interior renovations are expected to be finished by 2028. Officials say the upgrades are meant to make the stadium usable yearround and better suited for major sports, cultural and entertainment events.
