RCMP warn parents after children start fire and steal vehicle in B.C.

Home safety in Mission, BC: RCMP urge parents to spot hazards after two child incidents and prevent fires, crashes, and costly damage at home.

RCMP in Mission, British Columbia, are urging parents to check for hazards at home after two incidents involving young children last week. Police say a 7yearold boy found a small blowtorch, attached it to a propane cylinder and started a fire inside a home on Sept. 18. Fire crews responded and extinguished the blaze. In a separate incident the same day, a 4yearold boy took the keys to his parents' Cadillac Escalade, got inside and drove it into two parked vehicles. RCMP say CCTV footage confirmed what happened. No one was injured, and police are asking families to consider how they can reduce similar risks at home.
