Renata Fast re-signs with Toronto Sceptres

Toronto Sceptres defender Renata Fast signs a three-year extension through 2028-29. Keep Toronto's defender of the year and future star locked in as expansion looms.

Toronto Sceptres defender Renata Fast has agreed to a threeyear contract that will keep her with the team through the 202829 season. The announcement came on Wednesday as the PWHL opened its first offseason signing window. Fast, an alternate captain and one of Toronto’s original signings when the league launched in 2024, will also be protected from being selected by one of the league’s expansion teams. Each existing club must submit its protected list by Wednesday evening. Fast was one of the league’s top defenders last season, earning defender of the year honors and receiving an MVP nomination after recording 22 points in 30 games. Over the PWHL’s first three seasons, she has 45 points in 80 games, which ranks among the highest totals for defenders in the league. The PWHL has added four expansion teams in Hamilton, Detroit, Las Vegas and San Jose. Those teams can begin signing unprotected players later this week as the league continues its expansion process.
