Charges dropped against man accused in Pearson gold heist

Pearson gold heist charges dropped after Ontario man’s arrest was withdrawn Get the latest on the case and what court records reveal about the Toronto theft

Prosecutors have withdrawn charges against a Georgetown, Ontario, man who had been accused of helping in the 2023 gold heist at Toronto Pearson airport. Ammad Chaudhary was arrested in 2024 and later faced charges including theft over $5,000 and accessory after the fact. Court documents reviewed by CBC News did not say why the charges were dropped, and his lawyer confirmed he is no longer facing charges from that arrest. The heist took place on April 17, 2023, after a flight from Zurich carrying 400 kilograms of gold and about $2.5 million in foreign currency arrived at Pearson. The missing shipment was reported the next day.
