Toronto heat warning extended through Saturday

Environment Canada has extended a heat warning for Toronto through Saturday, with daytime highs expected to reach 31 to 33 C and overnight lows around 21 C. The warning had been expected to ease earlier, but the hot weather is now likely to continue into the weekend. The city has kept its heat relief measures in place, including longer pool hours and cooling spaces, while residents are being urged to take precautions during the hot conditions. Temperatures peaked earlier in the week, and weatherrelated power outages were reported on Canada Day. Toronto is also facing a separate risk of severe thunderstorms on Friday afternoon and evening, with possible strong gusts, hail, heavy rain and localized outages. Environment Canada said the storm could move southeast across parts of the Greater Toronto Area.
