Ford visits flood-hit Ontario municipalities

Ontario Premier Doug Ford met with the mayors of St. Catharines and Lincoln after severe flooding in Niagara Region prompted both municipalities to declare states of emergency. Ford said on social media that he heard directly from workers and residents affected by recent flooding in the two communities. The storms brought a combined 250 millimetres of rain to parts of the region in less than a week. Officials say the rainfall caused widespread damage, flooding thousands of homes and businesses. St. Catharines Mayor Mat Siscoe had previously called for help from provincial and federal governments, while Ontario is reviewing whether the situation qualifies for disaster recovery support.
