911 service is currently unavailable for Manitoba communities outside Winnipeg after a disruption at the dispatch centre in Brandon on Wednesday, according to local officials.
Brandon residents who need urgent help are being told to call the police nonemergency line at 2047292345. Other municipalities are advised to use their local 10digit emergency numbers until the issue is resolved.
The province sent a cellphone alert around 2:45 p.m. warning of the service disruption. Brandon Police Service said it is working with the City of Brandon and Bell MTS to restore service. Bell said it is investigating a suspected thirdparty fibre cut and is working to bring the system back online as quickly as possible.
