B.C. resort owner loses cabins and trailers in growing Boston Bar wildfires

A resort owner in British Columbia says parts of his property have burned in the Brunswick complex wildfires near Boston Bar, in the Fraser Canyon. Shayne Findlay, who owns Blue Lake Resort, said cabins, staff housing, storage buildings and several trailers were destroyed as the fires grew. He said he first saw the damage through a webcam before reaching the site and finding extensive wreckage. The Brunswick complex, made up of multiple fires on both sides of Highway 1, had grown to nearly 200 square kilometres by Wednesday night and has led to evacuation orders, alerts and highway closures. Findlay said he is closing the resort for the summer to focus on cleanup and safety work. B.C. Forests Minister Ravi Parmar said wildfire crews are working in difficult terrain and strong winds have limited aerial response. Officials say the fires are suspected to be humancaused.
