Camping is attracting more younger people, newcomers and firsttime campers across Quebec, according to provincial camping groups. A report from Camping Québec says more than two million Quebecers camped in 2025, a sharp increase from its 2021 findings.
Industry leaders say the trend is especially visible among young families choosing to spend holidays in the province. A campground owner near Quebec City said the mix of visitors has changed in recent years, with more small families arriving in compact motorhomes instead of mainly retirees with large trailers.
Camping groups say the stronger demand may reflect both economic pressures and reduced interest in travel to the United States. Campground operators have also been spending more on upgrades, with Camping Québec saying owners invested an average of $112,000 in infrastructure over the past year to meet changing expectations.
