Apple’s iPhone Duo faces a price challenge in China’s foldable market
iPhone Duo faces cautious China reception as buyers weigh price against rivals Pre-orders start Oct. 16—see how Apple’s foldable stacks up in a crowded market
Apple’s first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, is drawing a cautious response in China, where buyers are weighing its price against competing devices from local brands. The phone was introduced this week and is set to enter one of the world’s most competitive foldable markets.
The iPhone Duo is priced at 15,999 yuan in China, putting it above Xiaomi’s new 18 Fold and below Huawei’s premium Mate XT2 trifold. Social media reactions on WeChat focused heavily on whether the device offers enough value at that price, especially compared with domestic rivals that already have a strong presence in the foldable segment.
Apple remains a major player in Greater China, which accounts for about 17% of its revenue, but it faces strong competition from Huawei, Xiaomi, Honor, Oppo and Vivo. The company’s preorders for the iPhone Duo are scheduled to begin on Oct. 16, with sales starting on Oct. 23.
