Hotel Eldorado open to mediation with Kelowna over boardwalk dispute

Hotel Eldorado boardwalk dispute draws mediation talks as Kelowna expropriation stalls Explore how the waterfront access fight could end faster and what happens next

The owners of Hotel Eldorado in Kelowna say they are willing to try mediation with the city instead of continuing the legal fight over a waterfront boardwalk. The dispute centers on a section of boardwalk that the City of Kelowna said in July it would expropriate after a longrunning conflict over public access and needed repairs. The closure has kept the route blocked by fencing during the summer. Argus Properties, which owns the hotel, said the city is moving too quickly and that it has obtained an injunction in B.C. Supreme Court that pauses any expropriation while the case continues. The company said it remains open to mediation, arbitration, or another written agreement that would resolve the issue fairly for both sides.
