Chipotle to report second-quarter earnings after the bell

Chipotle earnings could show sales growth as budget pressure eases See whether same-store sales and traffic trends can lift shares after results

Chipotle Mexican Grill is set to release its secondquarter earnings after Wednesday's market close. Analysts surveyed by LSEG expect earnings of 32 cents per share on revenue of $3.33 billion. The burrito chain posted a 0.5% rise in samestore sales last quarter, after earlier declines raised concerns about softer traffic among budgetconscious diners. Analysts now expect samestore sales growth of 1.4% for the quarter, even as consumers continue to face pressure from higher gas prices and other costs. For the full year, Chipotle has projected flat samestore sales. The company said that outlook is conservative because consumer spending patterns remain difficult to predict. Shares of Chipotle are down more than 7% this year, leaving the company with a market value of about $44 billion.
