Porter Airlines begins service from Montreal Metropolitan Airport

Porter Airlines has started commercial service from a new passenger terminal at Montreal Metropolitan Airport in SaintHubert, on Montreal’s South Shore. The airline is launching flights to 11 Canadian destinations, including Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto, as part of a major expansion of its network. Porter chief executive Michael Deluce said bookings have surpassed expectations and believes the airport could quickly attract strong interest from travellers. Deluce said the airport’s location may be more convenient for many people in the Montreal area, with Porter’s research suggesting nearly half of the region’s population can reach SaintHubert faster than Trudeau International Airport. Travel experts, however, say habits may change slowly, since passengers often choose airports based on fares, schedules and destination options as much as convenience.
