Nearly 5,000 fans took part in a downtown Toronto parade and World Cup events on Saturday ahead of Germany’s match against Ivory Coast.
Toronto police warned drivers about temporary road restrictions during the fan march, which ran from the waterfront to Coronation Park and later ended with roads reopening.
Both teams entered the game after winning their opening matches, with Ivory Coast beating Ecuador and Germany defeating Curaçao. Ivory Coast also arrived with striker Elye Wahi, who had recently been cleared to enter Canada.
