Wayfair improves catalog accuracy and support speed with OpenAI

Wayfair AI improves product data quality and supplier support at retail scale OpenAI tools validate 11M specs and route 41K tickets monthly for faster ops

Wayfair said it is using OpenAI models to improve product data quality and speed up supplier support across its retail operations. The company, which manages a catalog of about 40 million items, reported that its AI systems have validated more than 11 million product specifications and automated about 41,000 supplier support tickets each month. According to Wayfair, the catalog tools help check and label product attributes such as color, material, and size, making items easier for shoppers to find and reducing issues tied to inaccurate listings. The company said better data quality has also supported stronger search, recommendations, and merchandising performance. Wayfair also said it added OpenAIpowered triage to its internal supplier support platform, allowing tickets to be read, categorized, and routed more quickly. In addition, the company has deployed more than 1,200 ChatGPT Enterprise seats for employees to use on everyday tasks and internal workflows.
